CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second week in a row, the North Coast Athletic Conference selected a member of the Kenyon College women's basketball team as its Player of the Week. The latest honoree, senior
Kayla Ernst helped the Ladies sweep a pair of conference contests by totaling 43 points and 16 rebounds.
Ernst had a career night in Kenyon's 64-58 triumph over Wittenberg University Wednesday night. She scored 31 points – a new personal best – and hauled in ten rebounds for her second double-double of the season. In Saturday's 58-42 rout at Hiram College, Ernst tallied 12 points to go along with six boards.
To reach the lofty offensive totals, Ernst used some precise shooting performances. She connected on 19-of-33 (57.6 percent) field goal attempts and went 5-of-7 (71.4 percent) at the free throw line. Her two-game stat line also included three assists, three steals and a pair of blocks.
With Ernst's scoring average of 18.0 ppg through the Ladies' first nine games of the season, only junior
Maureen Hirt (18.2 ppg), last week's conference Player of the Week, has scored more points for Kenyon. Ernst is the team's leading rebounder at 6.1 boards per game.
