CLEVELAND, Ohio – As the Kenyon Ladies softball team opened up the 2013 campaign,
Maddy Stark put together an unblemished record in the circle to help the team to one of the best starts in program history. Monday, the North Coast Athletic Conference recognized the sophomore as Conference Pitcher of the Week.
At the time of her nomination, Stark possessed a 5-0 record in the six games she started. Through 39.2 innings pitched, she struck out 28 batters and held the opposition to a .179 batting average. In her four complete games over that stretch, Stark manifested a 1.06 earned run average.
Stark highlighted her first six games with two shutout performances against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (March 9) and Saint Mary's College (March 10) through 11.2 innings where she struck out a combined 10 batters in her two wins. The following day, she tallied a career high nine strikeouts against New Jersey City University in a complete game victory over the Gothic Knights.
The Ladies are currently 10-3 heading into their final day at the 2013 Gene Cusic Classic, held in Fort Myers, Florida. Kenyon is set to play Nazareth College and Salem State University on Tuesday, March 12.
