DELAWARE, Ohio – Senior Leah Jacques kicked off the North Coast Athletic Conference Track & Field Championship a week earlier than the rest of her Kenyon College teammates. Saturday and Sunday, Jacques competed in the heptathlon and placed sixth. Her finish netted three points, which will be applied to the Ladies' final championship point total.
Jacques' best of the seven events was the javelin. Her top toss measured 25.72 meters, which was good for second place. She also had top-five individual finishes in the 200-meter dash, the 800-meter run, and the shot put. She placed third in the 200 (26.93) and fifth in both the 800 (2:34.12) and shot (8.43 meters).
Jacques' overall performance resulted in 3,808 points. Aedin Brennan of Denison University won the competition with 4,629 points.
The rest of the NCAC Track & Field Championship will take place Friday and Saturday and will be hosted by Kenyon. Friday's start time is 12 p.m., while Saturday's events will begin at 10 a.m.
