Jenna Willett and senior Leah Jacques, the Kenyon College Ladies scored 45 team points and finished seventh Sunday, the second and final day of the 2013 North Coast Athletic Conference Track & Field Championship held at Wilder Track.
Willett was the Ladies' top individual point collector. She took second place in the 1,500-meter run (4:42.19) to earn eight points and also ran to a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (18:07.02) to tack another six points on to the Ladies' team total.
Jacques claimed third place in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.77). Her time was a season- best and came up just a bit short of the Kenyon record (1:05.60) that's stood firm since 1992. Jacques, who last weekend placed sixth in the heptathlon, ran a leg on both the Ladies' 4x400-meter and 4x100-meter relay teams. Those squads placed sixth (4:05.55) and seventh (51.20), respectively.
Kirkley Doyle, another Kenyon senior, cranked out a season-best in the 800-meter run (2:19.00) and claimed fourth place, while classmate
Alexia Derkasch ran to a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (58.79) and an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (27.28).
Kenyon's other points came from freshman Casey Brumback, who took sixth place in the triple jump (10.01 meters).
In the final team standings it was Ohio Wesleyan University that claimed its fifth-straight NCAC title. The Battling Bishops did so by posting 216 points. Oberlin College was second with 209 points and Denison University placed third with 90 points.
