Sweeping all eight of the swimming events in the James A. Steen Aquatic Center, the Ladies managed to pile up 128 team points, set three meet records, and captured the first-place spot in the final standings.
Denison University won the two diving relays, which were held in Granville, Ohio, and wound up with 108 points and a second-place finish within the eight-team field. The College of Wooster was a distant third with 46 points, while Oberlin College and Wittenberg University tied for fourth place with 42 points apiece.
Kenyon's first of three meet records occurred in the afternoon's first event, the 200-yard medley relay. The Ladies' foursome of
Celia Oberholzer,
Katie Kaestner,
Hannah Cooper, and
Jenner McLeod posted a winning and record time of 1:45.65. Two events later, Kaestner joined
Laura Duncan,
Ellie Crawford, and
Natalie Parker to win the 200-yard breaststroke event with a meet record time of 2:02.93. The third and final meet record for the Ladies came in the 1,500-yard freestyle relay. The winning trio of
Mariah Williamson,
Kanchi Desai, and
Julie Dierker completed that event in 15:20.16.
Kaestner was also a part of three other Kenyon wins, as she swam legs on the 500-yard crescendo relay (4:34.54), the 400-yard individual medley relay (4:04.66), and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:37.42).
While Kaestner was Kenyon's top winner with five victories, both McLeod and
Megan Morris were a part of four Kenyon event wins. Cooper and Parker each notched three wins.
Meanwhile, at Denison, junior
Maria Zarka was the lone Ladies' diver. Her solo score had to compete with the combined scores of other team's pairings. Despite being shorthanded, Zarka still managed a third-place finish on both the one-meter and three-meter boards.
Kenyon now has some time off before its next meet, which will be at The Ohio State University on Friday, October 31.
