DELAWARE, Ohio – With ten days to go before the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championship gets underway, Kenyon College senior Sierra DeLeon improved her national standing in two events during Monday's competition at the Ron Althoff Invitational, an unscored meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.

DeLeon, who has improved each week of the outdoor season, rewrote her own Kenyon records in the 100-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles. She won the 100-meter dash in 12.11, clipping her previous record of 12.27. She then won the 100-meter hurdles in a wind-aided time of 14.17 seconds. Her preliminary time in the event was an unaided 14.18. In any case, she took down her previous Kenyon record of 14.22 that she set less than two weeks ago.

As of May 6, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) ranked DeLeon as the fourth-fastest Division III runner in the 100-meter hurdles. In the 100-meter dash, DeLeon ranked just outside of the top-ten runners in the nation.

In distance events, senior Jenna Willett led the Ladies by winning the 5,000-meter race with a time of 18:25.19. In the same race, junior Lizzie Halper claimed third place by finishing in 18:55.28.

Two other Kenyon seniors, Kerry Strader and Tory Bruch, closed out their Kenyon careers Monday. Strader was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Bruch was 12th in the 1,500-meter race. Their respective times were 11:57.56 and 4:58.69.

In field events, senior Hailey Schneider and junior Regan Fink kept busy. Schneider placed sixth in the shot put (11.01 m) and 13th in the hammer throw (33.24 m). Fink was fourth in the javelin (29.96 m), 10th in the shot put (9.00 m) and 12th in the discus (25.37 m).
