CLEVELAND, Ohio – Two days after guiding the Kenyon College football team to a 32-17 win at Allegheny College, senior quarterback Jake Bates was tabbed the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

In the conference win against the Gators, Bates completed 21-of-25 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns. The 21 completions were a season-high, while the 276 yards and three scores were both career-bests for Bates. The first of those three touchdowns was a first-quarter 18-yarder to fellow senior Blake Calcei. In the second quarter, Bates connected on 14-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Ian Bell. He then capped the game off in third quarter with a six-yard scoring strike to junior Brian Hunca.

In four games this season, Bates has completed a total of 56 passes in 100 attempts. He's covered 671 yards and tossed six touchdowns without an interception.

Bates and the Lords are now 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC. Next up for the Purple and White is a 1 p.m. home game Saturday against undefeated DePauw University.
