Jake Bates was tabbed the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
In the conference win against the Gators, Bates completed 21-of-25 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns. The 21 completions were a season-high, while the 276 yards and three scores were both career-bests for Bates. The first of those three touchdowns was a first-quarter 18-yarder to fellow senior
Blake Calcei. In the second quarter, Bates connected on 14-yard touchdown pass to sophomore
Ian Bell. He then capped the game off in third quarter with a six-yard scoring strike to junior
Brian Hunca.
In four games this season, Bates has completed a total of 56 passes in 100 attempts. He's covered 671 yards and tossed six touchdowns without an interception.
Bates and the Lords are now 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC. Next up for the Purple and White is a 1 p.m. home game Saturday against undefeated DePauw University.
