GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Kenyon College Ladies saw freshman Marysol Arce and senior Hannah Lobb claim event titles on Saturday night, the final night of the 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championship. Their efforts helped the Ladies maintain their ground and finish second in the final team standings.

The finish was two steps forward for the Ladies, who placed fourth at the 2015 NCAA Championship and gave six-time defending a champion Emory University a run for its money this year. With seven freshmen and three sophomores among Kenyon's 2016 NCAA qualifiers, the future could shape up nicely for the Ladies.

For now, the Kenyon women will celebrate their total of 476 points and their runner-up finish. Emory took Kenyon's best hits and held on to post a winning total of 560 points en route to its seventh straight team title. Third place went to Williams College with 386 points. Denison University was fourth with 329 points and Johns Hopkins University was fifth 188 points.

Arce kicked off the meet's final session in grand fashion, winning the 1,650-yard freestyle in a Kenyon record time of 16:33.29. She erased the previous record of 16:40.35 which she set earlier this season and became the first Ladies swimmer to take the title in the event since Kaitlyn Myers did so in 2008. The win also completed the distance sweep for Arce, who took the 500-yard freestyle title in the opening night of competition.

In the same race, Kenyon junior Alexa Korsberg earned her fourth career top-ten finish by placing tenth with a time of 17:00.35 and freshman Esraa Abdel Khalik added a 13th-place finish in 17:05.81.

The Kenyon title run continued into the next event as Lobb sprinted to first place in the 100-yard freestyle. She, too, posted a Kenyon record. Her time of 49.90 clipped the Ladies' previous mark of 50.14 set by Marisha Stawiski in the 1997-98 season. It was the oldest swimming record in the Kenyon book and Lobb became the first Lady to take the national title in the event since Beth Galloway claimed the crown in 2004. Following up on Lobb's swim, Kenyon junior Jenner McLeod added a sixth-place finish for the Ladies. She clocked in at 50.76.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Kenyon had just one qualifier, freshman Delaney Ambrosen. She ended up taking 16th place in a time of 2:03.07. At the same time, Emory had a tenth-place finisher and moved ahead of Kenyon by 75 points with just three events remaining.

The Ladies then looked to sophomore Julia Wilson to lead the way in the 200-yard breaststroke and she came through with a third-place time of 2:13.48, which was yet another Kenyon record, supplanting the old mark of 2:14.71 set by Alisa Vereshchagin during the 2008-09 season. Additionally, Kenyon got an eighth-place finish from senior Katie Kaestner, who stopped the clock at 2:18.17.

Senior diver Maria Zarka then took to the three-meter board for one last time in her collegiate career. A two-time NCAA champion in the event, Zarka placed fifth Saturday night by earning a score of 444.60.

Finally, the meet ended for Kenyon with a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Ladies team of Hannah Orbach-Mandel, Abby Wilson, Lobb and Jenner McLeod finished up in 3:23.17.
