Six to be inducted into KAA Hall of Fame

GAMBIER, Ohio – As part of Kenyon College's Homecoming Weekend festivities, a class of six will be inducted into the Kenyon Athletic Association Hall of Fame. The class, which includes Wayne Albertyn '97, Coach Bob Harrison, Brad Hensley '95, Erin Hockman '99, Matthew Miller '97 and Becky White '00, will be the 25th group to enter the Hall since 1988.

The induction will be held Saturday, September 24. The new Hall of Fame class will first be introduced at halftime of the Lords' football game against Allegheny College, which is slated for a 1 p.m. kickoff. Following the game, the honorees, along with their families and friends, will meet for a dinner ceremony at Peirce Hall, where they will officially be inducted into the KAA Hall of Fame. In addition to the inductions, the Donald May award will be presented to Bruce Broxterman '76 and the Burchell Rowe award will be given to Joe Adkins '63.

7154Wayne Albertyn '97
Men's Soccer
A three-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-American, Wayne Albertyn helped steer the Lords to four NCAA Tournament appearances and a combined record of 64-9-7. The midfielder/forward from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, tallied 26 career assists, a total that still ranks tied for fourth among Kenyon's all-time leaders. He was a four-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) selection and was the 1996 NCAC Player of the Year.
 
7155Bob Harrison
Coach: Basketball, Tennis, Soccer
A former National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star and three-time champion, Bob Harrison took over the Kenyon basketball program in 1958. He remained at the helm for 11 seasons and guided the Lords to a total of 107 wins, a mark that remains third-best in the program's 118-year history. Harrison also earned 104 combined wins while coaching the Lords tennis and soccer programs. He is a member of the University of Michigan's Hall of Honor, as well as the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame.
 
7156Brad Hensley '95
Football
Brad Hensley still possesses the top spots in the Lords' career passing charts for yards (8,154), attempts (1,439), completions (718) and touchdowns (65). He also shares the single-game record for touchdowns (5) and owns the second-best, single-season marks for passing yards (2,520) and touchdowns (20). He was named a 1991 All-American and was a three-time All-NCAC honoree. He earned Academic All-America status in 1994, as well as a postgraduate scholarship from the National Football Foundation
 
7157Erin Hockman '99
Women's Tennis
An elite player in the rich history of the Kenyon women's tennis program, Erin Hockman graduated with an 82-28 career doubles record and a 75-31 career singles record. She was a key member of the Ladies' 1997 NCAA Championship team and, one year later, she paired with Caryn Cuthbert '00 to win the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship. Hockman was a three-time All-American, the 1996 NCAC Newcomer of the Year and the 1999 NCAC Player of the Year.
 
7158Matthew Miller '97
Men's Swimming

A member of four national championship swim teams, Matthew Miller was an accomplished sprinter and an unfailing relay teammate. On his own, Miller captured the 1996 and 1997 NCAA individual titles in the 50-yard freestyle. With teammates, he amassed nine, career NCAA relay titles. His overall total of 11 NCAA titles ranks tied for 14th place all-time in program history. Miller collected 22 All-America certificates and also won nine titles in NCAC championship competition.
 
7159Becky White '00
Women's Diving
             
One of only three females in Kenyon history to win a national diving title, Becky White brought home the hardware by scoring 378.95 points on the one-meter board at the 2000 NCAA Championship. Prior to reaching that plateau, she scored three, top-five placements in the previous national championships. She registered the maximum eight, career All-America awards, won five conference crowns, was voted the NCAC Diver of the Year three times and capped off her career with an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
