On the final day of a two-day quad meet at the University of Cincinnati, Ian Reardon
won the 200-yard breaststroke and placed third in the 200-yard individual medley.
RESULTS
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Kenyon College Lords swimming and diving team wrapped up Saturday a two-day quad meet held at the University of Cincinnati. The Lords were up against three NCAA Division I opponents and wound up in fourth place with a total of 614 team points.
Ohio State University took the top spot in the final standings after adding up 979.5 points. Host Cincinnati was second with 727.5 team points and Oakland University was third with a 619 points.
Kenyon's top finisher Saturday was senior
Ian Reardon. He won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:05.06 and earlier in the meet placed third in the 200-yard individual medley by clocking in at 1:53.24. Also in the 200-yard IM, Kenyon junior
Matt Leenhouts claimed eighth place in a time of 1:56.25. Those were three of the 11, top-eight individual finishes for the Lords on Saturday.
Matching Reardon's third-place showing was
Austin Pu, another Kenyon senior. He claimed that position after clocking in at 21.17 in the 50-yard freestyle. In the 200-yard freestyle,
Robert Williams,
Chris Rutter and
Connor Rumpit took six, seventh and eighth place, respectively. Their times were 1:43.03, 1:43.07 and 1:43.32.
Early in the meet, senior
Arthur Conover raced to a fourth-place finish by completing the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:33.14.
Sixth-place times were turned in by
Mick Bartholomew and
Jon Zimdars. Bartholomew, a freshman, claimed that spot in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:55.52. Zimdars, a sophomore, did so in the 200-yard butterfly by stopping the clock at 1:55.43. Senior
Oscar Anderson wasn't too far behind Bartholomew in the backstroke. He ended up with an eighth-place time of 1:57.83.
The Lords return home next Saturday for their final dual meet of the season. They'll go up against the Wittenberg University Tigers in a meet that will get underway at 1 p.m.
