Kenyon College Athletics

McBride Field

Through a series of recent renovations, McBride Field - the home of Kenyon's football team - has transformed into one of the finest in all of Division III athletics.

In 2025, installation of a new synthetic surface was completed by The Motz Group and funded by a generous group of alumni donors. The installation of the Shaw Sports Turf's GAME ON technology provided for more graphic creativity and Kenyon took advantage of that technology, choosing to include the Owl logo, as well as a shadow of Old Kenyon that spans the entire field.

In 2013-14, new stands were constructed. The upgrade moved the seating capacity to 1,762, which included 176 chair-back seats set up at midfield. The new stands, splashed in lively Kenyon purple and set up in two tiers, stretch thirty feet wider while offering expanded walking lanes and increased wheelchair accessible seating.

In the early years of Kenyon College football, the game was played in a wide-open corner of campus known as Benson Field. Kenyon teams played there until 1962, when McBride was dedicated. The field was named for Pierre B. McBride, a 1918 graduate who personally financed the development of the new facility.
