As a junior and senior, he took first place at the NCAC championship and remains the only Lord to claim back-to-back individual conference titles. In 1996, he placed 27th at the NCAA Division III Championship and became the first Lord to earn All-America status. On the track, Denning was a six-time All-NCAC winner and two-time MVP. Additionally, he was awarded six CoSIDA Academic All-America certificates, the most by any student-athlete in College history.
