Robert Weaver holds a unique position among all student-athletes in intercollegiate history. Weaver was not only a competitor, but he also initiated a program by introducing lacrosse to Kenyon n 1941 and establishing the College as the first west of the Appalachians to play the game. With Weaver's assistance, Oberlin College followed Kenyon's lead and the first intercollegiate lacrosse game in Ohio was played between the schools on April 12, 1941. After helping found a program at Michigan State University, Weaver aptly became known as the "Father of Lacrosse in the Midwest."
