William Koller not only succeeded in balancing the demands of collegiate athletics and academics, but excelled in both. That was confirmed in 1970 when he became the first Kenyon athlete awarded a prestigious NCAA Scholar-Athlete Award, a graduate school scholarship. Koller also gave the Lords their first individual NCAA titles, winning both breaststroke events at the 1969 and 1970 College division championships. He capped his career as a five-time national event champion and a 13-time All-American.
