COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Kenyon College women's swimming and diving team jumped in the pool with some big fish and reeled in a notable victory Friday night. Led by big nights from senior Hannah Saiz, and freshmen Mariah Williamson and Haley Townsend  the Ladies toppled Division I Cleveland State University, 155-143, to earn a split at Ohio State University's tri-meet after falling, 168-119, to the host Buckeyes.

Saiz gave Kenyon the first of four event wins on the night in the 200-yard butterfly after clocking in at 2:05.70. Later, she took second in the 100 fly thanks to a 57.80 effort. Saiz also was part of the Ladies' third-place 200-yard medley relay, which opened the night with a 1:47.09 showing.

Townsend took one of the other legs on the 200 medley relay, and it served to catapult her onto even better results. She closed her night as the anchor of the 200 freestyle relay, which edged CSU, 1:37.78-1:37.88, for first place. In between the relays, Townsend claimed the 100 freestyle (52.80) and fifth in the 200 free (1:55.24).

Williamson provided Kenyon's fourth event win of the night as the first to the wall in the 500 freestyle, which she won by nearly eight seconds with a 5:03.90. Williamson added second-place efforts in the 200 individual medley (2:13.83) and the 200 fly (2:07.41).

Freshman Katie Kaestner swam for the Ladies' top relays, too, with a pair of top-five individual finishes in the 100 (1:06.60, 4th) and 200 (2:27.49) breaststrokes also to her credit. Sophomore Celia Oberholzer logged solid efforts in the 100 (58.67, 3rd) and 200 (2:11.03, 7th) backstrokes. Junior Syd Lindblom was consistent in the distance events with a fifth-place time of 10:42.36 in the 1,000 free and a fourth-place time of 5:17.40 in the 500 free.

Kenyon further benefited from the fourth-place points earned by freshman diver Maria Zarka on the one-meter board (242.50 pts.).
