Box Score
COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the second time on the young season, the Kenyon College men's soccer team outshot its opponent by a double-digit margin only to come up empty on the scoreboard. Capital University goalie Dylan Beck made six saves Tuesday night to lead the Crusaders to a 1-0 shutout victory that dropped the Lords' record to 2-2-0.
After a scoreless first half, Capital (3-2-1) gave Beck all the offense he would need in the 48th minute. Al Argyris buried the ball in the left side of the Kenyon goal for the lone score of the contest.
The Lords defense did everything it could by not allowing the Crusaders to attempt another shot the rest of the half. Overall, Kenyon held Capital to only two shots in the game, but the effort went for naught when the Lords couldn't find the goal on any of their 12 attempts.
The result was strikingly similar to Kenyon's season opener at Otterbein University, in which the Lords outshot the Cardinals, 17-5, but were saddled with a 1-0 loss.
Kenyon now returns home for a pair of contests on the Mavec Field pitch over Homecoming weekend. First up for the Lords is the Centre College Colonels, who visit Gambier Friday afternoon at 5:15 p.m.
