Lords whip Wilmington behind second-half surge

Box Score
J.J. Jemison
WILMINGTON, Ohio – The host Wilmington Quakers didn't have an answer for Kenyon College senior J.J. Jemison Wednesday night. Jemison scored one goal and assisted on the other to lead the Lords soccer team past the Quakers, 2-0, in non-conference action.

Following a scoreless first half, Kenyon (4-3-0) waited only 36 seconds into the new period to break the stalemate. Jemison set up junior Lewis Williams-Gray's first goal of the season to give the Lords the lead. In the 61st minute, Grant Carney sent a free kick to the front of the goal where Jemison was waiting to head the ball into the back of the net. Following the big performance, Jemison now leaves the team in goals (3), assists (2) and points (8).

The Lords defense then did its part to make the 2-0 cushion last. Wilmington (3-4-0) managed just three more shots over the final 29 minutes of the contest, two of which were stopped by senior goalie James Smith as part of his four-save performance in net.

Kenyon travels to Denison University Saturday afternoon to open up its North Coast Athletic Conference schedule at 4 p.m.
