TIFFIN, Ohio – A little more than 20 minutes into Thursday's non-conference contest against Heidelberg University, the Kenyon College men's soccer team got a goal from freshman Jeremiah Barnes. That lone goal stood firm the rest of the way and the Lords used the 1-0 victory to improve their overall season record to 2-1-0.

Barnes' goal, his second in the last two games, was set up by senior J.J. Jemison. The assist was Jemison's first of the season, but he now leads all Kenyon players with two goals and five point through the team's first three games.

At the defensive end, Kenyon senior goalkeeper James Smith saw seven Heidelberg shots. Only two of those shots were on goal and Smith corralled them both to notch his first shutout of the season and the second of his career.

Kenyon unleashed a dozen shots at Heidelberg (0-3-0), seven on goal, and finished the game with an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lords have the weekend off and will play next again Tuesday at Capital University. That non-conference game is slated for a 5 p.m. start.
