GAMBIER, Ohio – Opening Saturday's game against Allegheny College on a 15-2 run carried the Kenyon College women's basketball team to a comfortable 57-44 North Coast Athletic Conference victory. Senior Kayla Ernst produced her fifth-straight 20 point game to help give her classmates a win in their regular season home finale.

Ernst produced game highs of 23 points and eight rebounds for Kenyon (18-7, 12-4 NCAC). The big afternoon continued her recent hot-streak during which she has averaged 25.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Ernst's 494 points this season are the second most scored by a Lady and just 28 behind Kim Graf's record of 522 in the 1996-97 season. She also now owns 1,464 career points, the third-best total in the College record book.

Despite entering Saturday with the No. 2 seed in next week's NCAC tournament locked up, Kenyon had to wait for the rest of the day's action to conclude before learning its opponent for the quarterfinal round. The Ladies' postseason begins against Oberlin College Tuesday night at 8 p.m. inside Tomsich Arena.

Kenyon never trailed after gaining its big early did, but the Gators (14-11, 9-7 NCAC) did make things interesting in the second half. Allegheny cut the Ladies' 12-point halftime lead down to four, 31-27, over the first seven minutes of the period. Kenyon then erupted with a 10-1 run over the next 2:42 that ended the Gators' threat.

Ernst's senior classmates were integral to the win, too. Katie Adlam scored four points, dished out four assists and hauled in six rebounds. Imani Ladson keyed the Ladies' efforts off the bench with four point and four boards of her own.

Junior Maureen Hirt finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Maggie Boelter finished with eight points and seven rebounds, and hit a pair of early three-pointers to fuel Kenyon's fast start.
