Kenyon downs Oberlin to claim share of NCAC title

OBERLIN, Ohio – Becca Romaine scored twice as the Kenyon College Ladies claimed a share of the North Coast Athletic Conference regular season title for the first time since 2006 with a 2-0 win at Oberlin College today.

For Kenyon, it's the sixth win in its last seven contests. It also means the Ladies will host an NCAC Tournament Semifinal for the first time since 2006. Kenyon will welcome Wittenberg University to Mavec Field November 5 at 2:15 p.m. The Tigers defeated the Ladies 1-0 back on October 22 in Springfield, Ohio.

The Ladies' defense was outstanding all game long as it limited the Yeowomen to just one shot on goal.

After a scoreless first half, Romaine scored in the 61st minute. A little give-and-go from teammate Maggie Smith at the top of the box proved to be all the scoring Kenyon needed.

Romaine added another for insurance in the 77th minute when she fired from 25 yards out to the upper-right corner of the next.

Kenyon out-shot Oberlin 12-4 with eight of those shots coming on-goal.

The Ladies enter their first NCAC Tournament since 2011 when they lost to Ohio Wesleyan University 1-0 on the road.
