During Saturday's dual meet with Denison, Kenyon senior Mariah Williamson won the
1,000-yard freestyle and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle. RESULTSGAMBIER, Ohio – The Denison University Big Red closed out Saturday's dual meet on a strong note and surged ahead of host Kenyon College to hang on for a 150.5-149.5 swimming and diving victory at the Steen Aquatic Center. Denison edged Kenyon with the one-point win by claiming victory in nine of Saturday's 16 events.
Senior
Mariah Williamson recorded the Ladies first event win of the morning in the meet's second race as she cruised to victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:15.56. Later in the meet, she added a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle by clocking in at 5:02.60.
Two more seniors also came up with big wins for the Ladies.
Katie Kaestner was first to the wall in the 100-yard breaststroke. She stopped the clock at 1:04.10. Later, classmate
Maria Zarka rang up 269.40 points and won the one-meter diving competition. Kaestner added a second-place showing in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.51) and Zarka completed the sweep on the boards, winning the three-meter with 276.00 points.
In Kenyon's three other event wins, the freshman class stepped up. First,
Abby Wilson took charge in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the event in a time of 1:51.71. Then it was
Caitlin Foley who took first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.61. Finally,
Marysol Arce came through for Kenyon by winning the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:29.84.
Foley also chipped in with a second-place time of 58.37 in the 100-yard backstroke, while Wilson added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (57.97) and a second-place tie in the 100-yard freestyle. She and teammate
Hannah Lobb turned in identical times of 52.39 in that event.
