Kenyon’s offense shines again in victory over Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Kenyon College (4-0) Ladies lacrosse team continued its early-season dominance with a 20-10 win over Otterbein University (3-3) Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

The nation's top scoring offensive unit was led by freshman Kat Englert who scored a game-high six goals while also adding a pair of assists and three groundballs. Caroline Shipman scored five times and Jane Symmes rounded out Kenyon's efforts totaling four goals and eight groundballs.

Kenyon controlled the contest throughout and got an early 1-0 lead just 28 seconds in as Symmes picked up a groundball and drove and scored.

Trailing 3-0, the Cardinals got on the scoreboard with 20:57 left in the first half as Annie Kelly scored on a free-position shot.

But after that, the Ladies scored the next six goals and increased their lead to 9-1 after Allie McLane delivered on an assist from Englert with 14:28 left.

Kenyon took a 12-5 lead into halftime.

The second half saw no rally for the Cardinals as the closest they got was 13-6 a little over seven minutes in following a goal from Rebecca Carter.

Englert tallied her sixth goal of the game and gave the Ladies its second double-digit lead (18-8) when she scored with 10:47 remaining.

Ladies goalkeeper Meredith Bentsen recorded eight saves in the win.
