GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon Ladies lacrosse team ended their season with a 20-3 victory over the visiting Hiram Terriers Wednesday afternoon at Mavec Field. Ten different players scored at least a goal for Kenyon who attained 10 wins for the first time since 2013.
Senior
Jane Symmes led the way for the Ladies as she scored a half-dozen goals and won seven draw controls which brought her career-record total to 277.
Additionally, freshman
Lucy Somers tallied a season-best three goals while
Kat Englert,
Esme Cole and
Alexis Redford-Maung Maung each contributed two. For Englert, she finished the season with 60 goals, tied for the fifth-highest output in program history.
The Ladies wasted little time jumping ahead on the Terriers as
Cassie Hudson-Heck scored about two minutes into the contest on an assist from Symmes. It was Hudson-Heck's 36th goal of the season.
Kenyon's lead ballooned to 10-0 with 11 minutes left in the half as Somers scored on a pass from
Sabrina Greene.
By halftime, the Ladies had built up a 14-0 advantage and had out-shot the Terriers 30-8. Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper
Allie Dumas collected six saves in the opening half.
Nothing changed in the second half as Kenyon saw its lead go to 20-0 after
Allie McLane's goal with 10 minutes remaining.
Hiram did finally get on the scoreboard three times in the final 8:31 with two of those goals coming from Autumn Osgood.
The victory pushed Kenyon's final record to 10-4.
Jane Symmes scored six times and added seven draw controls as the Ladies defeated Hiram 20-3 at Mavec Field on Wednesday.
The Concord, New Hampshire native leaves Kenyon with a program record 277 draw controls.
