Michigan State squeaks by Ladies, 151-149

Hannah Orbach-Mandel won two individual events and was a part of the first place
200 free relay team as the Ladies took on Michigan State on Saturday.

RESULTS
GAMBIER, Ohio – NCAA Division I and Big Ten Conference member Michigan State University edged the Kenyon Ladies swimming and diving team on Saturday afternoon by a 151-149 count at James A. Steen Aquatics Center.
 
The Ladies had a very successful day in the pool as they notched victories in six different events.
 
Junior Hannah Orbach-Mandel was a part of three first-place finishes on the day. She earned her first win during the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.16 and later won the 500 free as she touched in 5:03.07. Orbach-Mandel later teamed with Abby Wilson, Celina German and Emmerson Mirus to win the 200 free relay.
 
Freshman Crile Hart added a pair of victories as well for Kenyon. During the seventh event of the day, Hart clocked a 57.03 in the 100-yard backstroke and she later dialed up a 56.71 mark in the 100 butterfly. Also during the 100 back event, Caitlin Foley and Summer Otazu finished in second and third, respectively.
 
Julia Wilson turned in the team's last top mark. During the 100 breaststroke, Wilson touched the wall in 1:04.31.
 
There were also six runner-up finishes for Kenyon against the Spartans. Kendall Vanderhoof finished the 1,000 freestyle in 10:29.55 while Mirus completed the 50 free in 24.22. Abby Wilson had the runner-up spot in the 100 free and later Julia Wilson clocked a 2:21.95 in the 200 breaststroke.
 
Kenyon's other runner-up marks included Sydney Matteson's performance in the 400-yard individual medley and the quartet of Orbach-Mandel, Hart and Abby and Julia Wilson during the 400-yard medley relay.
 
Rounding out the Ladies' best efforts included third-place finishes from Claire Murray in the 200 free, Makena Markert in the 100 breast, Zoe Toscos in the 100 free, Marysol Arce in the 400 IM and Scout Wilkins in the 500 free.
 
In diving competition, Madeline Carlson posted a pair of fourth-place marks in the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
 
Next on the schedule for Kenyon is a home date with Denison University on November 11 at 10 a.m.
