Defenses to be tested in Lords, Pioneers match

The Lords, making their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, will take on
Transylvania University on November 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Otterbein University.

GAMBIER, Ohio – Transylvania University brings one of the nation's most productive offenses into Saturday night's first round NCAA Tournament match against the No. 13 Kenyon College men's soccer team. The contest is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start on the campus of Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.
 
Kenyon (15-2-3) is bringing in a 12-match unbeaten streak into the affair, its third all-time meeting against Transylvania and first since 2009.
 
Over the last 12 contests, the Lords have outscored their opponents 29-3 while holding opposing offenses to just 1.6 shots on goal per game. As a defensive unit, Kenyon has posted the tenth-best goals against average mark in the nation at 0.47. Helping spearhead the Lords' defensive efforts is freshman keeper Ian McInturf. His 0.48 GAA is 11th in Division III and second best among freshman goalies, while his 11 shutouts rank tied for second in the nation.
 
Offensively, Kenyon is eighth in shots per game (21.0) and tied for 22nd in shots on goal per contest (9.0). Leading the way for the Lords in senior Henry Myers. To date, he's tallied 13 goals and a total of 30 points which lead the North Coast Athletic Conference. Complimenting Myers are forwards Woo Jeon and Brice Koval. That duo has combined for 10 goals and 10 assists. Additionally, midfielder Oliver Wynn has added four goals and two helpers.


 
On the other bench, Transylvania, winners of six straight and a 17-1 overall record, brings in an assortment of scoring options.
 
Riley Calhoon has registered 15 goals, a mark that's tied for 35th in the country, while Griffin Lamb, Alex Shkraba and Charlie Wend have each tallied at least five goals. The Pioneers rank in the top-45 in Division III in goals per game (2.44) while also ranking 18th in shots per contest (19.5). Transylvania is also tied with the Lords in shots on goal per game (9.0).
 
Defending the net is sophomore Drew Grisham. He's started all 18 matches for the Pioneers and posted a 0.45 goals against average, a .821 save percentage and collected two clean sheets. Collectively, Transylvania ranks fifth in the country with a 0.37 GAA mark.
 
Ticket prices for fans heading to Memorial Stadium on Saturday night are as follows: $10 for adults, $7 for seniors (62 & over) and $5 for students. Children five years or under are admitted free.
