Raviol’s hat trick lifts Ladies to victory

GAMBIER, Ohio – Junior Fallon Raviol scored three times in the second half to propel Kenyon College to a 4-1 win over Hiram College on Saturday in a North Coast Athletic Conference match at Mavec Field.

Raviol's output was the eleventh all-time occurrence in Kenyon single-game lore and was one shy from tying the school record, held by three other players.

On this day, the Ladies were especially strong on the offensive end as they reached season-highs in shots (28) and goals.

In the first half, Kenyon had some good looks within the game's first 17 minutes including header attempts from Alyssa Sugar and Kiele Anderson. Additionally, freshman Olivia Dion nearly scored twice but Hiram keeper Ally Green saved her attempts.

The scoreless tie was then broken with less than seven minutes remaining. A deflected ball came to Hannah Ward along the right side of the box and her shot appeared initially saved by Jillian Countey. However, the ball deflected off the keeper's right hand into the net.

Down 1-0 after halftime, the Ladies responded in a big way.

Raviol's fifth goal of the season came just 2:23 into the second half. After a Caroline McNeer corner was deflected away, Raviol picked up the loose ball and fired into the left side. Seventeen minutes later, Samantha Hayes crossed a pass to Raviol and she finished inside the right post.

The team's third goal by Raviol came at 81:47 as she fired off the bounce into the left side over Green's outstretched arms.

For good measure, Maddie Ladd added her first career goal with about two minutes left on a laser into the upper-right corner. Kenyon ended up outshooting Hiram 28-7.

The Ladies will look to use this momentum heading forward as they travel to Ohio Wesleyan University on October 16 at 7 p.m.
