CRAWFORDSVILLE, In. – Freshmen
Sam Carson and
Sebastian Gaese each scored a goal and tallied an assist as the Kenyon men's soccer team earned a 4-0 victory at Wabash College on Saturday. The victory improved the Lords' record to 9-1-1 and 3-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
While the Lords didn't find the back of the net in the first half, they threatened often.
Within the game's first 16 minutes, Kenyon fired twice on goal from attempts by
Philippe Stengel and
David Kim. The Lords added two more on-target attempts but Wabash keeper Chad Wunderlich denied both.
By the end of the half, the Lords had outshot the Little Giants 9-0.
Kenyon's offensive efforts then broke through at 52:20 as
David Anderson scored his team-leading seventh goal of the year. Ninety seconds later, fellow senior
Brice Koval extended the team's lead to 2-0.
With less than 12 minutes left, the Lords added two more scores. Gaese found Carson at 78:45 and the freshmen duo connected again at 82:57 with Gaese scoring his third goal of the season.
For Wabash, its two lone shots came from Timothy Herring and Collin Luckey. However, Lords sophomore keeper
Ian McInturf stopped both.
The Lords ended up outshooting the home team 19-2.
Next on the schedule for Kenyon is a home date against The College of Wooster on October 9 at 4:15 p.m.
