Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rain-filled day ends in draw for Ladies

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon women's soccer team played on the McBride Field turf for the first time on Sunday but after 110 minutes of action, it ended up tying Buffalo State College 0-0 on a miserable, rainy afternoon.

Offensive opportunities were rare in the first half for both teams but the Ladies did come close twice.

About eight minutes into the match, Isabella Tramposch's through ball to a streaking Oliva Dion just missed the feet of the newcomer and rolled out of bounds. In the 28th minute, Caroline McNeer's free kick from the left side came to Gwyneth Phillips, however, her header attempt deflected off the right post.

For the Bengals, Hannah Gallivan's strike in the 20th minute sailed above the crossbar. A little while later, Emma Boccolucci added a shot about seven yards away but missed to the left.

In the second half, the Bengals (0-3-2) got their first on-goal opportunity of the match from Kelli O'Donnell but her attempt at the 53rd minute came into the arms of Jillian Countey. Just three minutes later, Allie Reeds navigated down the near sideline and just missed a through ball to Sophia Perrothers as Countey picked up the possession around the right post.

Ladies' junior Meredith Glover found a pair of hard shots in the half's final 12 minutes, however, Bengals goalie Taylor Carillo denied both.

During the two overtime sessions, neither team had really any good lucks as Buffalo State outshot Kenyon 7-1. Carillo did notch another save, her sixth, off another attempt by Glover in the 104th minute.

Kenyon (1-2-1) will look to get back into the win column on September 12 when it travels to Washington and Jefferson College for a 7:30 p.m. match.
