Ladies top Tigers for sixth straight win

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Kenyon College (7-2) earned its sixth consecutive win after a 3-1 road victory at DePauw University on Saturday at Revis Stadium. The victory sets up a showdown with Denison University on October 1 in Granville in what will be the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for Kenyon.

First-quarter action saw DePauw get a couple on-target attempts from Kate Milner, however, freshman goalie Payton Doan stopped both to keep things scoreless after one.

Then in the second, the Ladies broke through for all the scoring they needed. Five minutes into the period, Emma Hyer received Hannah Sklar's penalty corner and the sophomore's shot deflected off a DePauw defender and into the cage. Less than three minutes later, Sarah Metzmaier doubled Kenyon's advantage with her team-leading seventh goal of the year. Defensively, Doan added two saves.

After halftime, Kenyon went up 3-0 in the game's 37th minute. Metzmaier deflected newcomer Carolyn Herbosa's pass and the ball trickled past Tigers keeper Allie Duranceau.

Kenyon's defense in the second half was outstanding. It allowed just one on-target attempt which Maddie DeAscentis scored on with the game already in hand.

Doan ended up with four saves while the Ladies' offense out-shot the Tigers 15-6.

Game time for Kenyon's next matchup against Denison comes on October 1 at 4:30 p.m. The Big Red have won the last six regular-season contests against the Ladies.
