Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lords dominate Grove City, 3-0

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Senior Scott Upton scored two goals as he led the Kenyon College men's soccer to a 3-0 home win over Grove City College on Friday afternoon.

Upton started the scoring in the 24th minute with a penalty kick after a Wolverine foul just inside the box. The senior put it in the back of the net as Grove City goalkeeper Luke Greenway chose the wrong direction. Upton's goal would be the difference in score as the two teams went to halftime with the Lords up 1-0.
Only three minutes after the break, Joey Martens sent a corner kick into the box to connect with the leaping Upton. Upton headed the ball down past the defender and into the back corner for his second goal of the game.

Upton would have a shot at a hat trick on another penalty shot in the 64th after a handball in the penalty box. Greenway chose correctly this time around and pushed Upton's shot out of the way.

The Lords had a handful of opportunities after the penalty kick but Greenway stopped each opportunity until the 72nd minute mark. After gaining possession, Minkael Soumah led Sebastian Brylka toward the corner where Brylka crossed into the box. As the cross came into the box, Alem Duratovic launched feet first toward the ball, hammering it into the Grove City goal for a 3-0 advantage.

The Lords outshot the Wolverines 25-9 with 15 of those shots being on goal. First-year goalkeeper Jack Pedreschi earned the shutout in the home win.

The Lords improve to 2-1-1 and stay in action tomorrow as Muskingum University comes to town with a 5:00 kickoff at Mavec Field.
