Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Owls double up Falcons to register first win

GAMBIER, Ohio -- Lara O'Callaghan and Talulla Sheridan both scored a goal Sunday and steered the Kenyon College women's soccer team to a 2-1 home victory against The Concordia (WI) University Falcons.

Kenyon's first goal came from O'Callaghan in the game's 30th minute. It developed off a couple of shots for the Owls. First, Chloe Webb fired in a shot from about 25 yards away. Concordia goalkeeper Brooke Braga back-pedaled and jumped to make the save. The ball went off her hands, then off the crossbar and to the feet of Jenna Michel, who loaded up a left-footed shot, only to have that shot saved by Braga, who was sprawled out on the ground. The rebound off that save went to O'Callaghan who finished off the job. The goal for O'Callaghan was her first of the season and the assist was also Michel's first of the season.

In the second half, Sheridan doubled the Kenyon lead. During the 63rd minute, Hailey Moss gathered a throw-in and turned to the right corner of the field. She then sent a crossing pass to the back post, where Sheridan headed the ball into the net. The goal and the assist were also firsts of the seasons for that Kenyon pairing.

Concordia (3-1-1), which was outshot by Kenyon, 16-10, needed a penalty kick to score its lone goal of the game. Karoline Haugland drew the foul in the box and Jordan Lafferty took the shot, beating Kenyon goalkeeper Leah Anderson to her right. That goal came with 14:09 left in the game.

Anderson wound up making six saves for Kenyon, while Braga made seven for Concordia..

The Owls (1-2-1) will remain at home for their next game, a 5 p.m. contest on Wednesday against Case Western Reserve University.
