Owls triumph over Wooster with dominant home win

GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Kenyon College men's soccer team returned to winning ways with a convincing 3-0 victory over The College of Wooster in a crucial North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) matchup. The home game saw the Owls improve their record to 8-2-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Fighting Scots fell to 7-6-1 (2-2 NCAC).

Coming off two consecutive conference losses, the Owls were determined to bounce back, and they did so in style. The team's offensive prowess was on full display from the opening whistle, with the Owls outshooting their opponents 5-1 in the first half alone.

The scoring opened early when senior Victor Bravo III showcased his skill and composure under pressure. In the 11th minute, Bravo III gained possession from a throw-in, and, despite being swarmed by two defenders, managed to execute a nifty move to find first-year Andrew Adams. Adams wasted no time in delivering a pinpoint pass to the cutting Eamon Dujakovich, who sprinted in and tapped the ball past the diving Wooster goalkeeper into the back left corner of the net.

Dujakovich wasn't done yet. In the 22nd minute, he doubled Kenyon's lead with a fantastic finish. Lawrence Taylor, controlling the ball inside the box, found Dujakovich, who unleashed a powerful right-footed shot that soared into the top of the net, leaving the Wooster goalkeeper with no chance.

The first half ended with Kenyon firmly in control, leading 2-0 and dominating in both shots (5-1) and corner kicks (3-0).

The second half saw Wooster attempt to mount a comeback, managing four shots compared to their solitary attempt in the first period. However, Kenyon's defense, led by goalkeeper Jack Pedreschi, stood firm. Pedreschi completed the game with a clean sheet, only needing to make one save throughout the 90 minutes.

Any hopes of a Wooster revival were extinguished in the 79th minute when Gerardo Martinez put the game beyond doubt. Martinez netted his second goal of the season, extending Kenyon's lead to 3-0 and capping off a dominant performance by the Owls.

Looking ahead, the Owls will aim to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next challenge. They'll be on the road to face Hiram College on Saturday, October 19th, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. If they can maintain the level of play displayed against Wooster, the Owls will be in a strong position to improve their conference standing and continue their push for postseason success.
