Kenyon women sweep Yeowomen in final road dual

OBERLIN, Ohio -- Playing for the first time in nearly a week, the Kenyon College women's tennis team did not have to worry about any rust as they cruised to a 9-0 sweep over Oberlin College. The Owls improved to 9-6 overall by winning their season's final road game and stayed perfect through four North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) contests. On the other side, the Yeowomen fell to 1-12 (0-2 NCAC).

Kenyon has now swept four straight duals 9-0, and the Owls have won six of their last seven contests by posting 9-0 victories. With the win over Oberlin, Kenyon's winning streak against NCAC opponents has reached 29 duals, a stretch that started in the 2014-15 campaign.

The Owls' doubles margins got progressively larger down the line as the No. 1 duo of Eleni Lazaridou and Allaire Berl won 8-2, the No. 2 team of Eleni Dakos and Shadia Amado Aguad won 8-1, and the No. 3 pairing of Lalasa Nagireddy and Madeline Chappars posted a flawless 8-0 victory.

The trend continued in singles as Oberlin put up the toughest test in the top singles match before Kenyon cleaned up lower in the lineup, but the Owls still swept all six bouts in straight sets. Amado Aguad and Nagireddy notched the biggest wins of the outing, posting a pair of perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweeps. Chappars conceded just one game in the No. 6 match, while both Berl and Dakos dropped three in their respective matches. Last but not least, Lazaridou won 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles matchup.

Kenyon's road slate is in the books, and the Owls have a three-dual homestand on deck to close out their regular season. Kenyon's next outing is a significant one as the No. 36-ranked Owls welcome No. 24-ranked Denison University to the Gambier on Wednesday, April 17. The rematch of last season's NCAC Tournament Championship, which Kenyon won, is set to start at 4:30 p.m. at the Jasper Tennis Center.
