Owls swamp Gators to even record

ORLANDO, Fla. – Playing in its third match in three days, the Kenyon College women's tennis team took on 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) runner-up Allegheny College from the United States Tennis Association's (USTA) National Campus on Friday morning.

The Owls overpowered the Gators en route to a 7-0 sweep, as new faces got involved in singles and doubles matches to improve the team's record to 3-3 on the young season.

All doubles teams had success, allowing three or less games each. The No. 1 duo of Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime took care of business with a 6-3 victory. Ana Brand and Lalasa Nagireddy dispatched their opponent in the No. 3 match 6-3, while Clare Hudson and Shadia Amado Aguad shut out their No. 2 foe 6-0 to take an early lead for Kenyon (3-3).

Similarly to the doubles matches, there was not much drama to speak of in singles, as the Owls all won in two sets while allowing three or less winning games total. Brand was one of two players to cruise to a 6-0,6-0 victory in the No. 2 singles match, while Hudson matched her in the No. 3 singles flight.

Amado Aguad took over the No. 1 duties for the match and turned in a tidy 6-2, 6-0 winner for Kenyon. Nouaime had another great showing in the No. 4 flight as the first-year turned in a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Finally, Elizabeth Ackermann joined the party with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 6 singles flight to cap off the sweep for the Owls.

The team will have a short break but will remain in Orlando before a doubleheader on Monday, March 10, with the first match against Sweet Briar College getting underway at 7:30 am at the USTA National Campus.
