Owls declaw Tigers in 3-0 victory

GAMBIER, Ohio - - The Kenyon College men's soccer team routed the DePauw University Tigers by a score of three to nil in a Saturday afternoon game at Mavec Field.

The Owls pulled ahead early in the 14th minute after a bouncing ball in the box was sent home by Lucas de Alarcon for his fifth goal of the season. Before that goal was tallied, the Tigers picked up a quick red card in the fifth minute of the match ensuring they would play with 10 men for the remaining 85 minutes of the match.

Kenyon continued to press on finding another goal in the 34th minute of the match from Luca Bilotto. Bilotto scored his second of the year off a talented assist from Robert Little. The Owls would continue to fire at the net taking a 2-0 lead into the locker room.

Dominating the offensive game the Owls took 15 shots in the match with four finding the target. Defensively, Kenyon only conceded three shots with Matt Kayser picking up his sixth clean sheet of the season. The third and final goal was scored by Kenyon's Moustapha Gassama right on the goal line receiving the ball off the far side from Joey Nigro for an assist.

The Owls handed a poll votes receiving squad, DePauw only their second loss of the year and improved to a 7-2-0 record on the year with a win to start conference play. The Owls continue play at Mavec on October 3, at 4:00 PM against NCAC opponent Wittenberg.
