The Patterson Fitness Center extends across the southern portion of the Lowry Center, overlooking the tennis courts on one side and the pool on the other. Its 12,000 square feet of space hold more than 200 pieces of exercise equipment. From free weights to steppers, treadmills to bikes, and cross trainers to rowers, the facility contains more than enough tools for anyone seeking an intense workout or even just some light conditioning.

A varsity team can hold its workout session in the center and still leave plenty of room open for students, faculty and staff, or other community members to use the facility. Included in the long list of equipment are 46 cardio machines, 25 pieces of Cybex Eagle Strength equipment, Precor cross trainers, Cybex treadmills, two full racks of dumbbells, 55 pieces of plate loaded and free weights, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, and spinning bikes, steppers, rowers, upper body ergometers, and a total of 12,250 pounds of weight plates.

Television monitors flank the cardio equipment and users of the center have a view that overlooks the tennis courts and natatorium. Additional equipment such as jump ropes and medicine balls are also available. The center follows the same hours as the building it's housed in. As long as the Lowry Center is open, so is the Patterson Fitness Center.
