Kenyon College Athletes for Equality

The Kenyon College Athletes for Equality (KCAE) is a student organization that has a mission to promote an accepting and welcoming environment for all student-athletes and to educate the student body on the presence of LGBTQ+ athletes in sports. Typically, members of the KCAE meet once or twice a month to discuss goals and direction. They frequently collaborate with other campus groups to ensure their message is not confined to athletics. The organization has shared its message through a couple of videos (see below) and has brought to campus speakers, including Chris Mosier, the first transgender athlete to compete for Team USA, and Schuyler Bailar, the first openly trans athlete to compete on an NCAA Division I men’s team.

Additionally, at the beginning of the academic year, the KCAE asks all student-athletes to sign a pledge, one that states they will demonstrate sportsmanship and will respect all persons regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion and all other differences.
