Cassie Hayward enters her second year at Kenyon in 2022 after joining the staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2021 season.
Hayward, a native of Ashford, Connecticut, played four seasons of soccer at Hamilton College, an NCAA Division III institution in Clinton, New York, where she graduated in 2019 with a degree in psychology. She played as a defender and helped the Continentals to a combined 18-11-5 record over her final two seasons.
Hayward was voted team captain during her senior season, which ended with her landing second-team spots on both the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) and All-New England Region teams. In 2017, she started 17 games and was a key part of a defense that posted a .647 shutout percentage, ranking Hamilton among the Top-20 in the nation. She played in 60 career collegiate games and finished with seven points on the offensive end of the pitch.
Following her graduation, Hayward moved into a coaching role, accepting an assistant position at Saint Lawrence University in Canton, New York. Her duties with the Saints included, but were not limited to, student-athlete development, recruiting, practice planning, individual skill and technical training sessions, strength and conditioning, assisting with game strategies and breaking down film. While at Saint Lawrence, Hayward earned a master's degree in leadership.
Her previous coaching experience includes work at the Pomfret Girls Soccer Academy since 2012, in addition to coaching at camps and ID clinics at Hamilton, Trinity College and Dartmouth College. She was selected to attend the NESCAC Women's Coaching Symposium in the spring of 2017. She has both 'E' and 'F' national coaching licenses from US Soccer.
