Luis Platas

Luis Andres Platas was hired as the assistant coach for both the Owls men’s and women’s tennis teams starting off the 2024 spring semester.

Platas, a 2023 graduate of Kenyon, played four seasons of tennis with the Owls men’s team. In that time, he posted a career record of 41-29, playing mainly in the No. 1 spot. He also composed a 47-27 career doubles record, competing mostly in the team’s top two spots.

Despite his first two collegiate seasons being riddled by the COVID-19 pandemic, Platas finished the 2021 campaign named Rookie of the Year by both the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Central Region. That same year, he was selected team MVP.

Platas wound up winning three All-NCAC awards, including a pair of first-team honors. He also had two All-NCAC nods in doubles play, including a spot in the 2021 first team.
