Angel Maldonado enters his first year as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.

He recently earned his Master’s degree in International Sports Management from Guilford College, where he also served as the Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications. During his time at Guilford, Angel played a key role in managing media relations, producing digital content, operating live stats, and coordinating game-day operations across 21 varsity sports. He served as the primary contact for men’s soccer, men’s & women’s tennis, women’s basketball, triathlon, and men’s lacrosse. His work helped elevate the profile of Guilford Athletics through dynamic storytelling and real-time coverage.

Originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Angel earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media Communication with a minor in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2024. While at Charlotte, he worked as an intern in athletic communications, supporting men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer, and men’s tennis, managing social media, video production, and event logistics. He also interned with the NCAA during the 2024 March Madness 1st and 2nd Rounds, supporting media relations and statistical reporting, and worked as a student broadcast operator for ESPN+ broadcasts on campus.
