DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In two games played at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Land of Magic Classic, the Kenyon College women's basketball team never really got comfortable behind the three-point line. Saturday's two-point loss to No. 14-ranked Simpson College was followed up Sunday afternoon with a 63-54 loss to the Cabrini College Cavaliers.

Entering the Land of Magic Classic, the Kenyon women were shooting 39 percent (76-of-195) from long range. Against Simpson, the Ladies shot 21.7 percent (5-of-23) and against Cabrini they shot 18.2 percent (4-of-22). The inaccuracy resulted in Kenyon's first back-to-back losses of the season and moved the Ladies' overall record to 8-3.

Cabrini, which improved to 7-3 with the win, did not share the Ladies' frustration from three-point range. The Cavaliers fired in three-balls at a rate of 64.3 percent (9-of-14). Junior guard Brittany Sandone was responsible for the bulk of those numbers, as she put together a 6-of-9 showing from behind the arc and finished with a game-high 23 points.

Kenyon was paced by junior Maureen Hirt and senior Kayla ErnstHirt connected on two of the team's four three-pointers and finished with 15 points. Ernst tallied 18 points and led the Ladies in scoring for the second straight game. Ernst also had a team-high five rebounds, while fellow senior Katie Adlam logged eight points and a team-high five assists. Adlam is now tied for eighth place all-time at Kenyon with 202 career assists.

The Ladies were able to keep things close in the early stages of the game and even took their first lead (12-11) when Hirt nailed her first three-pointer with 13:24 showing on the first-half clock. Sophomore Sarah Hobbs added another three-pointer and the Ladies moved ahead by four points, which turned out to be their largest lead of the game.

With the score tied 19-19, Cabrini started chucking in three-pointers and opened up a nine-point lead before settling on a 32-25 cushion at the break.

Kenyon worked hard to knot the game up three different times in the second half and went on to regain the lead (50-49) after two Adlam free throws.  The Ladies ran out of gas, however, and the Cavaliers went on to outscore Kenyon, 14-4, over the last five minutes of play.
