GAMBIER, Ohio – Playing their third North Coast Athletic Conference contest in four days, the Kenyon College women's basketball team concluded a hectic stretch Saturday night by trumping Oberlin College, 67-58, inside Tomsich Arena. Senior
Kayla Ernst topped the 20-point plateau for the third-straight game with a 27-point night to keep the Ladies a perfect 5-0 in conference play.
Kenyon (11-3, 5-0 NCAC) will need to maintain all of the momentum from its three-game winning streak with its toughest test to-date on the horizon. The Ladies travel to DePauw University (13-0, 4-0 NCAC), the No. 1-ranked team in Division III, Wednesday night in a match-up of the top two teams in the NCAC standings.
Ernst's big night helped Kenyon build a lead as big as 22 points (64-42) against the Yeowomen. Oberlin (7-7, 2-3 NCAC) made the final score respectable with a scrappy 16-3 run over the final 7:30, but found the deficit too much to overcome.
Ernst led all scorers thanks to an 11-of-18 performance from the floor and a 4-of-4 showing at the free throw line. The 27-point outburst moved her past
Morgan Korinek '12 into fifth place on the Ladies career scoring chart with 1,243 points. Ernst also was among the Kenyon's top rebounders against Oberlin with five caroms.
Sophomore
Lauren Kriete supplemented Ernst's efforts with 11 points on the strength of a trio of three-pointers. Senior
Katie Adlam (nine points, eight rebounds, six assists) and junior
Maggie Boelter (eight points, six rebounds, five assists) turned in similar stat lines by doing a bit of everything for the Ladies. Junior
