Pivotal match versus Oberlin accompanies Senior Day festivities

GAMBIER, Ohio -- It has been a wild ride for the Lords soccer team this season, and it is far from over so long as their fantastic play continues. However, Saturday will mark another chapter concluded in the playing careers of three Kenyon players. Lewis Williams-Gray, Andrew Parmelee, and Alistair Flynn will join for their last regular season match played at Mavec Field when the Lords host Oberlin College on Senior Day.

It has been a complete team effort to get the Lords to a 13-3-2 overall record and 6-0-2 mark. Currently, Kenyon is ranked fifth in a very strong Great Lakes Region and has received votes in the most recent NSCAA Top-25 Coaches Poll. Helping the Lords achieve such heights has been the midfield duo of Parmelee and Flynn, who have combined for 11 goals, three assists, and 25 points. After missing two weeks of action due to injury, Parmelee returned in a big way by scoring twice, including the game winner, against rival Denison University and has put up six points since his return. Flynn has been turning it up lately as well, scoring three goals in the Lords' recent offensive outburst.

Williams-Gray has been an integral part of the Lords' defense this season, despite missing some time due to injury. He notched his first assist of the season against Hiram College last week and wears the captain's "C" proudly with co-captain Andrew Pamelee.

The Lords have been paced by freshman sensation Tony Amolo, who has scored a team-leading 10 goals, good for sixth in the conference, and seven assists, as well. His 27 points props him up as fourth in the conference. They are backed by another highly successful freshman, goalkeeper Sam Clougher, who ranks third in the NCAC with a 0.81 goals-against average. The defense has pitched seven shutouts, winning six of those, and helped pull down draws against two nationally-ranked opponents (then-No.9 DePauw and then-No. 1 Ohio Wesleyan).

Action against Oberlin will begin following the women's soccer game that precedes their match, but is tentatively set for 3:30 p.m. Coverage will be provided by the Kenyon Sports Connection (click here).

Currently, Kenyon and Ohio Wesleyan are tied for the top spot in the NCAC with seeding for the conference tournament still on the line. The Lords must at least match Ohio Wesleyan's result against Hiram College to induce one of many tiebreakers to determine seeding. Should Kenyon win and Ohio Wesleyan lose or tie, the Lords will be the number one seed. Should both teams win, it will go to the third tiebreaker (record versus individual opponents examined in decending order of standings) which will then be influenced by the result of the DePauw/Denison match. Should both teams lose, Kenyon will drop to the third seed, Oberlin will jump to the top seed, and Ohio Wesleyan will drop to the second seed.
