Castaneda hat trick leads Owls to 6-0 victory

Anderson, IN- The Owls traveled to face the Anderson University Ravens for their first road contest of the year. There is no doubt there were many smiles for the Owls tonight as they returned to the bus sporting a 2-0-0 record after a 6-0 victory. 

Outlasting a weather delay, the Owls struck quickly in the 15th minute of play as Emmett Brown positioned himself quite well chipping a Robert Little thrown over the keeper into the the far pocket of the net. It wouldn't be long before another opportunity appeared for the Owls. Coming off a missed penalty attempt from Clyde Felsen minutes earlier, Kenyon found themselves with a set piece opportunity coming from the left corner. David Do played a beautiful ball into the airspace of Adrian Bondartsov, where he quickly headed the ball into the net to cap off the 38th minute of the match. 

The second half provided more of the same for Owls in what can only be described as utter dominance in the early season contest. Moustapha Gassama then scored perhaps an immediate contender for goal of the year burying a bouncing ball into the back of the net with a bicycle kick.  

A 65th minute substitution took the game even further out of the claws of Anderson as Ethan Castaneda entered the match. Castaneda did not take long to score his first of three goals sinking his first in the 69th minute assisted by Hayato Ishii. Just over 10 minutes later Castaneda scored his second goal of the night beating the defender to a loose ball then beating the keeper. The final goal of the contest was the result of a direct free kick saved by Anderson delivered to the foot of Ethan Castaneda as he picked up his third goal of the night.

Kenyon returns to Gambier after a day of rest for a Sunday match against Hanover College back on their own pitch.
