GAMBIER, Ohio – Offense took a back seat Saturday as the Kenyon College and No. 17-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer teams clashed at Mavec Field. Defenses dictated pace, shots were few and far between, and in the end it was the visiting Tartans who squeaked out 1-0 non-conference victory.

The lone goal of the game developed off a corner kick. In the game's 66th minute, Carnegie Mellon's Rachel Contopoulos put the ball in play from the left corner. Jordyn Greenberg met Contopoulos' kick in the Kenyon box and headed it into the back of the Ladies' net.

The header was one of just ten shots the Tartans took throughout the game. Meanwhile, Kenyon was held to only five shots. Two of those five Kenyon shots were on goal and saved by Carnegie Mellon keeper Anna Albi. Five of the Tartans' shots were on goal and Kenyon keeper Lauren Wolfe saved all but one.

The loss dropped Kenyon to 1-4-0 overall, while the win improved Carnegie Mellon's record to 3-1-1. The Ladies have a couple of days off and then travel to the University of Mount Union on Tuesday to battle the Purple Raiders at 7:00 p.m.
