GAMBIER, Ohio—
Jeremiah Barnes scored twice to keep the No. 2 Kenyon College men's soccer team undefeated as the Lords claimed a 2-0 win over the College of Wooster Saturday afternoon at Mavec Field in a North Coast Athletic Conference match.
The 11-0 record to start the 2014 campaign is Kenyon's best since 1990 when the team won every single regular-season match (18-0).
The Lords got on the scoreboard in the 12th minute as Barnes received a pass from
Cameron Scott, maneuvered in the goalie's box, and fired from about 12 yards out.
Kenyon's usual rock-solid defense was on point throughout the entire match as Wooster attempted just three shots, none of which were on goal.
Sam Clougher notched his eighth shutout of the year, tying his total from last season.
Barnes tallied his second goal of the contest in the 85th minute as he won a 50-50 ball just past midfield and fired a shot from about 30 yards out to push Kenyon's lead to 2-0.
Kenyon out-shot Wooster 22-3 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lords will next travel to Denison University October 15 for a 7 p.m. NCAC match.
