RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College edged the Kenyon College Ladies basketball team 57-54 Saturday afternoon in non-conference contest at the Athletics and Wellness Center.
The highly-competitive game saw 10 ties and nine lead changes.
Hannah Franklin led the Quakers with a game-high 16 points while teammate Kasin Spay tallied 15 points including a 9-of-10 clip at the free throw line.
Kenyon was led by 
Lauren Kriete who produced 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. 
Avery Anderson came off the bench to contribute 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting. 
Sidney Cera scored nine points, dished out a game-high six assists, and corralled six rebounds. 
Bailey Dominguez added nine points of her own as well.
In the first half, the Ladies jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead following Cera's layup and free throw conversion with 15:08 left.
The Quakers rallied to tie the game at 18 after a Franklin jumper with 4:09 left and eventually took a 29-26 lead into halftime.
The second half remained a tight affair between the Ladies and Quakers.
Kenyon had its biggest lead (54-50) after a Kriete free throw with 2:27 left, but after that, Earlham closed the game strong.
Down by two possessions, Spay started the late comeback scoring five straight points for the Quakers. Her jumper with 1:07 left gave the home team a lead it never relinquished.
Franklin added another jumper with 21 seconds left to bring the score to 57-54 with 21 seconds remaining. Kenyon's final possession of the game saw two 3-point attempts from Dominguez and Anderson but neither went through the hoop.
Kenyon shot 10-of-35 (28.6%) in the second half and was 2-of-12 (16.7%) from beyond the arc.
Earlham's use of the free throw line in the half (12-of-18) helped them scrape for a few extra points while the Ladies attempted eight free throws converting six.
The Ladies will try and snap their three-game losing streak against Case Western Reserve University November 25 at 7 p.m. at Tomsich Arena.
