GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The DePauw University Tigers showed the Kenyon College Ladies exactly why they are ranked as the No. 1 women's basketball team in NCAA Division III. Saturday at Neal Fieldhouse, the Tigers raced out to a 16-2 lead and never looked back while registering an 80-47 North Coast Athletic Conference win.

DePauw (24-0, 15-0 NCAC), the defending national champion, keep Kenyon at bay by knocking down shots with tremendous accuracy. Overall, the Tigers were 28-of-52 (53.8 percent) from the floor, 7-of-15 (46.7 percent) from three-point range, and 17-of-22 (77.3 percent) at the free throw line. Even before racking up those numbers, DePauw entered the game ranked second in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (39.3 percent) and ranked eighth in the nation in overall field goal percentage (45.6 percent).

Kenyon (13-9, 8-6 NCAC), which entered the game with some lofty ranks as well, was pinned to an 18-of-57 (31.6 percent) shooting performance. Prior to the game, Kenyon ranked 12th in the country in three-point field goal percentage (36.5 percent) and 19th in overall field goal percentage (44.2 percent). From three-point range, the Ladies were just 6-of-22 (27.3 percent) against the Tigers.

After DePauw opened the contest on a 16-2 run, thanks in part to ten points from Alex Gasaway, Kenyon kept its deficit at 12 points for a few minutes. The Tigers, however, turned it on again and closed out the first half with a 41-18 lead after ripping off a 17-6 run. Gasaway ended up with 15 in the first half and finished with a game-high 20 points.

After intermission, Kenyon had a chance to turn the tide, but the Tigers did not let it happen. DePauw posted the first nine points of the second half, opened a 50-18 lead, and coasted the rest of the way.

Kenyon was led by freshman Sidney Cera's 10 points. Bailey Dominguez tossed in six points and both Maggie Boelter and Emma Schurink added five to the Ladies' final tally. Kenyon struggled on the boards, too. No Lady grabbed more than three rebounds while DePauw built a convincing 43-25 advantage on the glass.

With two games left in the regular season, Kenyon sits in fourth place in the NCAC standings. The Ladies are one position ahead of the Wittenberg University Tigers, who will show up in Tomsich Arena on Wednesday night for the Ladies' next contest, which tips off at 7:30 p.m.
