HIRAM, Ohio – For the second straight contest, the Kenyon College women's basketball team shot over 50 percent from the floor and scored over 80 points en route to victory. Tuesday evening, the Ladies' victims were the Hiram College Terriers, who fell behind early and never caught up in an 83-60 North Coast Athletic Conference loss.

After shooting 55.9 percent in Saturday's 89-81 win at Allegheny College, the Kenyon women connected on 52.9 percent (27-of-51) at Hiram. That output against the Terriers included a remarkable 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from beyond the three-point line, where senior Maureen Hirt was 3-of-5, sophomore Meredith Williams was 2-of-2, junior Lauren Kriete was 2-of-3, and senior Maggie Boelter was 2-of-4.

Hirt, for the 13th time this season, led the Ladies in scoring. She dropped 17 points on the Terriers and now has 371 points for the season and 1,691 points for her career. With five games left in the regular season, Hirt stands 103 points away from tying the Kenyon career scoring mark of 1,794 points set by Kim Graf '97.

Boelter followed up with 16 points, three assists, and three steals. She now has 66 assists on the season and 311 for her career. That mark puts her in fourth place among Kenyon's all-time assist leaders. She is just six more assists away from taking over third place from Heather Spencer '89.

While the seniors kept working their way up Kenyon's career charts, Williams was blazing a trail of her own as she torched the Terriers for 14 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Over her last two games, Williams posted totals of 26 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals.

With that trio of Kenyon guards firing on all cylinders, Hiram (5-15, 1-10 NCAC) did not stand much of a chance. The Terriers did manage to keep it close over the first seven minutes of play, but the Ladies snapped a 12-12 tie with a 10-2 run that was fueled by three-pointers from Hirt and Boelter. From that point on, Hiram never reduced its deficit back down to single digits and the Ladies pumped up their lead to as many as 27 points in the second half.

Kenyon's other two starters, Lauren Kriete and Avery Anderson, added eight and seven points, respectively. Combined, they were 7-of-8 at the free throw line, where Kenyon ended up going 18-of-21 (85.7 percent).

The Ladies (12-7, 7-4 NCAC) are now winners of three straight and four of their last five. They'll hope the hot shooting trend continues Saturday when they host Ohio Wesleyan University at 1 p.m.
