WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Kenyon College suffered a heartbreaker Wednesday night falling to Otterbein University 2-1 in double overtime in a non-conference women's soccer match at Memorial Field.

After a Kenyon foul in the box with a minute to play, Jillian Strimbu converted the go-ahead goal to send the Ladies home.

In the first half, only three shots were close to breaking a scoreless tie.

Strimbu attempted a shot in the 29th minute from 30 yards out but it hit the top crossbar and away from danger.

Maggie Smith and Heather Pacheco each had shots in the 42nd and 45th minutes, respectively, but Cardinals goalkeeper Dana Strimbu saved both.

It wasn't until the 64th minute that the ball found that back of the net. It came to Alyssa Spencer who found a loose ball and fired from 18 yards out.

Senior Becca Romaine delivered the equalizer late in the second half. After an Otterbein foul, Romaine fired a penalty kick passed Strimbu to tie the match at 1-1.

The first overtime brought just one shot attempt, this one from Megan McCabe that was saved by Ladies keeper Alissa Poolpol.

Kenyon wasn't able to get a shot off in either overtime period.

Strimbu then ended the game with her penalty kick in the 109th minute.

Otterbein out-shot Kenyon 14-11 and held an 8-4 lead in corner kicks.

The Ladies will try and bounce back this Saturday, September 27 at DePauw University in a North Coast Athletic Conference match. Start time is set for 12 p.m.
